Accessibility & ADA

Request an accommodation, accessible information, or help with an accessibility complaint.

Reasonable Accommodations

DTC considers reasonable changes to policies, practices, and procedures so people with disabilities can use its programs and services. Request a modification at 313-224-2160 or civilrights@thepeoplemover.com.

Passenger Assistance

Boarding & Announcements

Station elevators, train space for mobility devices, audio station announcements, and door chimes support accessible travel. The accommodations brochure explains wheelchair securement and mobility-scooter guidance.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome aboard. DTC’s published rider guidance calls for a harness or leash.

During A Delay

Follow Control Center announcements. If a train is between stations, remain aboard and use the emergency communication system for assistance. Leave the train only when it is at a station with its doors open, or as directed during an assisted evacuation.

Contact The Control Center

Emergency communication devices in trains, stations, and elevators connect directly with the Control Center. Call 313-963-0171 for assistance.

For current elevator and station access notices, visit People Mover rider accessibility information.

  • The incident date and location, what happened, and why you believe discrimination occurred.
  • Names and contact information for witnesses, if available.
  • Your signature on the written complaint.

Address correspondence to the ADA Coordinator. DTC’s published investigation period is 60 days. If more information is requested, respond within 14 business days to avoid administrative closure.
