Film & Video Production
Apply to film on People Mover trains or at stations.
Prepare Your Request
Allow five to seven business days for clearance after required forms and paperwork have been approved. Send your production request to MarCom@thepeoplemover.com.
- A letter on company letterhead with company background and a description of the production.
- Requested stations, dates, times, duration, and any exclusive-use or train-rental needs.
- Plans for loading, crew access, parking, security, and other logistics.
- Producer and director contact information and a location specification sheet.
- The completed location-use and insurance forms, with a liability certificate naming DTC as an insured.
- For student productions, written instructor approval.
Production Conditions
Productions must follow Transit Police direction, remain within approved areas, and avoid obstructing passengers or operations. Exclusive station or train use requires a Work Authorization Permit. Fees depend on the request and are determined during coordination.
DTC’s published filming guidelines require submitted content to be free of indecency, profanity, obscenity, and references to suicide or substance use. Contact Marketing Communications before submitting if you need clarification. Filming beyond DTC property may require separate City of Detroit permits; drone activity requires applicable aviation authorization. Identify those activities in the request so they can be reviewed before the shoot.
